History

Luneta has witnessed some of the most significant moments in Philippine history. It is best known as the site where Dr. Jose Rizal was executed in 1896, an event that fueled national resistance during the Spanish colonial era. Over the years, the park served as a gathering place for assemblies, protests, and civic activities that shaped the country’s path toward independence.

Present Day

Today, Luneta remains one of Manila’s most visited public landmarks. Visitors can explore the Rizal Monument, open gardens, historical markers, and dedicated spaces for reflection. It continues to be a national symbol of freedom and a cultural destination for both locals.
